Call for abstracts

Dear colleagues

We are pleased to invite you to the ISMSE16 – ICPMSE14 symposium organized by ONERA, ESA, CNES and ITL to be held at the St Raphael Congress Center (France) from 7 to 11 October 2024.

This symposium is a forum dedicated to promote exchange between scientists and engineers in the fields of materials in the space environment.

It will includes plenary sessions (oral and poster sessions), roundtables, keynote lectures, industrials exhibition and will run over 5 weekday. A half-day short-course session is also proposed on the Sunday afternoon 6 October 2024.

A conference proceeding will be published and made available to all registered participants.

We encourage contributions to all topics related to materials in space applications and exposed to the global space environment (list non-exhaustive):

  • Space and Extreme environments (UV, charged particles, temperature...),
  • Planetary environments (Lunar and Martian regolith...),
  • Dust mitigation and related problems (degradation of materials performance, electrical build-up),
  • Micrometeoroids and debris in space environment and related effects,
  • Atomic Oxygen effects (LEO/VLEO applications),
  • Radiation-induced ageing, charging, outgassing,
  • Contamination testing and modelling, thermo-optical properties of contaminated surfaces, species separation
  • Protection coatings (atomic oxygen, charging, contamination, radiation shielding),
  • Innovative materials (self-healing, bio-inspired …) and processes in space sub-systems,
  • Effect of space environment on "COTS" or "terrestrial" technologies (low budget, Cub-sat, short lifetime LEO missions),
  • Smart / multifunctional / nano materials and coatings,
  • Additive manufacturing, printed ink electronics…,
  • Clean Space and sustainability (reusable materials, mitigation of debris)
  • Long-term storage and materials obsolescence,
  • Standards and Regulations,
  • Ground testing (best practice, data),
  • Test Facilities and platforms,
  • Flight experiments : design, data and lesson learned

Abstracts will be reviewed by the ISMSE-ICPMSE Program Committee.

Please note that the deadline to submit a contribution is 1st March 2024, 18:00 GMT. Extended to Friday 22 March 2024.
